How To Install A Kick Plate?

Architectural Hardware Ltd will show you the best ways to install your Kick Plate.
There are several fixing options available and whichever type of door you would like to protect, we have a suitable fixing method for you.

Below will show you the installation procedures and fixing options:

             ·         No Holes

·         Pre drilled holes (Screws included)

·         Self-adhesive – No Holes

No Holes

How to Install a Kick Plate with no holes?

Firstly, make sure the door surface is clean and remove any grease or dirt. Once removed then wipe with a clean dry cloth.

Once your door has been cleaned, you can mark and position where you would like the Kick Plate to go.

We recommend using a grad adhesive like no nails or gripfill.
There are many different grab adhesives on the market to choose from.

Place the grab adhesive on the back of the kick plate and stick it to your door.

Apply pressure all over the kick plate to make sure it gets a good firm fixing.

Peel off the protective coating on the front of the kick plate and that’s it, all done!!

 Pre drilled holes (Screws included)

How to Install a Kick Plate with screws?

When installing a kick plate to your door with screws, we recommend a 25mm gap either side of the door for the kick plate to be fitted.

Using your tape measure and pencil, mark the position of where the kick plate will go on the door.

Hold the Kick Plate against the door within your marked area and hold in place using masking tape.

Drill pilot holes into the door through the screw holes on the Kick Plate.
Now you can install the screws.

Peel off the protective coating on the front of the kick plate and that’s it, all done!!

Self-adhesive – No Holes

How to Install a Self-Adhesive Kick Plate?

Firstly, make sure the door surface is clean and remove any grease or dirt. Once removed then wipe with a clean dry cloth.

Once the door is clean and dry, you can mark the position of where the Kick Plate
will go using a tape measure and pencil.

Peel off the strip on the self-adhesive tape, line the kick plate up in between your pre-marked lines, and stick it to your door.

Apply pressure all over the plate to make sure it gets a good firm fixing.

Peel off the protective coating on the front of the kick plate and that’s it, all done!!

**PLEASE NOTE**

In some cases, when the kick plate is quite heavy or the material of the door is not compatible with the adhesive, the self-adhesive strip might not be strong enough to hold the kick plate.

Adhesive strips may not stick to a door if the surface is dirty or damp. To create a good bond, the surface should be clean and free of dust, oil, grease, or moisture. These contaminants can act as a barrier between the adhesive and the surface, preventing it from sticking securely.

For best results, use Alcohol Wipes.

If this still occurs, we also recommend using a grab adhesive as well as the
self -adhesive strip. This will solve the problem.

Please find link below on some examples of grab adhesives you can use.
